Our First Family Camping Trip!

And I survived to tell the tale!

Friday evening when Nick got home from work, we packed up the little truck camper (which actually belongs to a friend, but he parks it at our house, so we decided to take advantage and use it for a change!) and headed to a State Park campground about 30 minutes from home. I wasn't fully convinced that I'd actually ENJOY a weekend at the campground because, well, I'm just not the great outdoorsy type, truthfully!

But, we had a wonderful time. It was actually a huge relief to be away from home and "civilization" for a couple of days. I didn't even miss my computer (and Nick thought I'd suffer withdrawals! lol).

Of course I took a million pics of our exciting camping adventure.
Here are some pics of the camper and our little site:

Avery, gathering wood for the fire (she's a good worker bee!):

Nick and the kids fishing:Major excitement... Damon's first sunfish! He caught a few sunfish (or maybe the same one three times?!?!) and was unlucky enough to hook a couple snapping turtles, too (boy, they're nasty creatures, blech!).
Avery was actually the first one to reel in a fish... with her SpongeBob fishing rod, lol. She caught a little catfish (not pictured because he's really ugly and I didn't figure anyone really wanted to see him). The kids enjoying the playground:

And here are some more random water/fishing pics that were among my favorites from the weekend:

To sum up, camping was a huge hit for all four of us. We hated to pack it up and return home today... although I will enjoy sleeping in my own bed tonight! I see lots more camping trips in our future!

Seriously, camping? You're so brave, I don't think I'd survive. But I did sleep in a strangers' shore house the other night, does that count? Pics were too cute!
