Puppy love

It's really hard to imagine there was ever a day that these two didn't get along. Well, more accurately, a day that Lizzie didn't try to bite Comet's face off every time he got within six inches of her. Comet has always loved Lizz, but the feeling was definitely not mutual for the first week or two.

Now, this is a common scene in our house... the two of them snuggling together somewhere. I have dubbed them Mutt and Jeff... pretty accurate, wouldn't ya say??

Pool time!

I'm a week behind on posting these pics... they were taken LAST weekend, when it was very warm in our corner of the world! So warm that when the kids requested I set up their pool in the backyard, I said, "ummm, well... okay!"

The air was over 80 degrees, but that water was icy cold!! Avery was a little hesitant and did little more than put her feet in it... Damon, on the other hand, had a blast sliding into the pool, despite the frigid temperature of the water waiting below.

Fun was had by all... even Comet was curious, but he's not quite dumb enough to jump into the pool (I was actually surprised, because he's really pretty dumb, people! lol).

Wow... over 2 weeks since I posted. This might be an all-time low.

Sadly enough, I don't think anything exciting has happened in all of that time to update you on. It's just been more of the same around here.

Even though we haven't had many warm days, Spring is definitely upon us... I know this because those Spring-time allergies are making me one miserable woman this week! I'd really like to just curl up in a ball and cry because I feel that rotten. Allergy meds are not Erin-friendly, either. I don't care how many of them claim to be "non-drowsy," they still send me to Never Neverland. So, really, all I can do is suffer... and whine. There has been lots of whining.

Along with the whining and feeling sorry for myself comes a lot of guilt, though. I know that in the big scheme of things, I don't have a whole lot to complain about. In the wake of the shootings at Virginia Tech this week, I'm feeling very blessed and know that I should be counting those blessings and focusing on what's good around me... even the annoying pollen.

Thanks to the pollen and the horrible feeling in my head right now, we have some beautiful blossoms on the tree in our front yard. So, it's not all bad.

Easter Egg Hunt Pics... as promised!

This past Tuesday we had the 2nd Annual Just Moms Easter Egg Hunt at my friend Melissa's house. She has a nice large yard, perfect for our egg hunt extravaganza. For the past two years, the Egg Hunt turn-out has been tremendous! Lots of moms and LOTS of kids... and this year, we even had a few dads in on the fun (including one awesome dad who volunteered to don the Bunny costume while screaming toddlers sat on his lap for pics!).

Here are a few pics that I captured of Avery and the Bunny... well, not Avery & the Bunny... she refused to sit on his lap this year.

Rain, rain, go away! (and other random thoughts)

It's raining cats and dogs here today... which is actually okay with me. I like rain. Although, it's making me feel very lazy. I'm supposed to be working like a fiend because Avery is at Miss Trish's today... instead, I'm eyeballing the couch and thinking how warm and cozy it looks.

So, I decided to compromise and take a break from work to post a blog entry instead! :)

I'm afraid nothing terribly exciting is going on in my World... which is why I haven't been posting much. It just seems like more of the same every day.

Yesterday, we did have a fun Easter Egg Hunt with our playgroup. I took a million and one pics, so I could be sharing Easter Bunny pics with you now, but I haven't actually taken the time to get the pics off of my camera yet. But, they'll be along eventually, I promise. Maybe even later today/tonight... so keep your eyes peeled!

On the Easter topic... I went to Walmart a few nights ago to purchase the makings for two Easter baskets for Demon and Emma (just for you, Dad! lol). And, I have never in my life since so much JUNK for Easter. There must be 6 or 7 aisles in our Walmart devoted to Easter baskets. It's just insane. And, now, I'm not a very "religious" person, but it dawned on me as I was walking around the store that Easter IS supposed to be about Jesus and not Bunnies and eggs.

It also dawned on me that my children wouldn't have a clue that Easter had to do with anything OTHER than Bunnies and eggs. *enter a Bad Mommy moment here* Damon even asked me the other day: "Mom, what's Easter all about?" ummmm, I was speechless. I KNOW what Easter is all about but how do I even begin to explain that to a 6 year old who has never stepped foot in a church and will look at me like I'm speaking Greek if I try to tell the Easter story??

Sigh. Clearly, we're going to have to work on that...

On a lighter note, Nick and I have a date night planned for this Friday. I'm insanely excited about this, because I honestly can't remember the last time we went out for an evening sans kids. And, like most young-ish married couples with little devilish children, we could definitely USE a night out together!

Okay, I think my "break" is over, and unfortunately work is calling me... blech. Since I don't have any Easter Egg Hunt pics uploaded, you'll have to settle for some cute pics of Avery out of the bath and squeaky clean a few nights ago. She really IS a dollbaby when you can get the mop of hair out of her eyes and the orange Cheetos cleaned off of her face...
